Dictionaries

Rotarians from the Wood County and Parkersburg Clubs have been distributing dictionaries as part of District 7530 Literacy Project. While originally slated for the 3rd grade, another organization had already done that, so here are some of the 4th graders checking the meaning of words in the 4-Way Test.

Boys are watching

Its how you hold your knee

Grappling is good

Holding the lip

You have got to smile

Closing one eye helps too
Students in Mrs. Ellis' third grade class at Parkersburg Catholic Elementary School were excited about the free dictionaries they received courtesy of Rotary District 7530, and area Rotary clubs who distributed them at PCES and to students throughout Wood County. To "break-in" their new dictionaries, students were asked to look up the word "truth" which is a key word in the Rotary Four-Way Test. The effort was part of a district wide initiative to promote youth literacy.
