Home

This "Service Above Self" team went to Nicaragua from July 31 to August 6 to provide medical help. Front Row L-R Delores Winder, Amy Eddy, Robbie Hupp, Jean Nicholson, Dr. Gary Nicholson, Ashley Sandy, Alicia Matheny, Second Row: Ross Dutton, Dr. David Stastny, Jarrod Caltrider, Brent Hardman, Dr. David Avery, Phillip Pifer, Mary Stover, Gerry Stover, Jennifer Sjosted, Jeff Matheny, Ned Tanner.

This team spent their first two days in Managua where they treated families that lived in the city dump shown above. The first step for the patients after being bused to the clinic and waiting in line was the blood pressure and vitals station. The data would be logged and the patient would get a vitamins packet for them and their children. Here are two members interviewing the patient in Spanish.

Next the doctor would examine the family, and prescribe and give appropriate medicines for everybody (below).
Next the team went to Matagalpa, a regional center in the mountains, for a third day.

On the fourth day the team split into two groups to reach some remote areas in Cerro Verde and Rancho Grande. Here the doctor is interviewing a family with the help of an interpreter.

Here two of our Interact members create new meaning for "Hard Party."

For the entire week we reached 14-1600 people. All of the remaining medicines where given to the Clinic in Managua managed by Noami,a missionary, shown with two of her charges below. The trip was not all work, ask any of the team members about "Canopy Rides."
